Chelsea Boosted as Bayern Munich Try to Sign Christopher Nkunku
Chelsea have been handed a significant boost in their efforts to sell Christopher Nkunku, as Bayern Munich have reportedly intensified their pursuit of the French forward ahead of the 2025 summer transfer deadline.
Nkunku, who joined Chelsea with high expectations, has struggled to make an impact at Stamford Bridge due to persistent injuries and limited playing time. After failing to establish himself under both Mauricio Pochettino and current manager Enzo Maresca, the 27-year-old is now deemed surplus to requirements, and Chelsea are actively looking to offload him before the transfer window closes on 1 September

Bayern Munich initially pursued Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart and submitted a €60 million bid for the 23-year-old striker. However, Stuttgart rejected the offer and are reportedly demanding €75 million, putting the deal in serious doubt. With Woltemade potentially out of reach, Bayern have reignited their interest in Christopher Nkunku as a more affordable alternative.
According to multiple sources, Bayern have now made Nkunku a top attacking target, with Vincent Kompany’s side long-time admirers of the versatile forward. Chelsea have placed a €50 million price tag on Nkunku and are eager to complete a permanent sale to fund new signings, including Alejandro Garnacho and Xavi Simons.
Nkunku has been linked with several top European clubs this summer, including Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, and Inter Milan. However, Bayern Munich have emerged as frontrunners in the race to sign the former RB Leipzig star.
Selling Nkunku would represent a crucial step in Chelsea’s ongoing summer rebuild under Enzo Maresca. The club is looking to streamline the squad and reinvest in younger attacking talents, with Joao Pedro already signed and further reinforcements being targeted.
