Luis Diaz, Colombian international, joins German powerhouse Bayern Munich on a four-year deal from Liverpool for € 75m.

Colombian has signed a four-year contract with the option of an extra year with the German League champions after Liverpool received an improved offer they felt represented fair market value for the 28-year-old Colombia international on Sunday. Luis Díaz, who left the English Premiership champions’ pre-season training camp in Tokyo on Monday to seal the transfer, turns 29 in January and had made it clear he wished to leave the Liverpool.

Bayern Munich beat Barca to the signature of Diaz, who leaves Anfield despite having two years left on his Liverpool contract.

Liverpool rejected Bayern’s initial advances and an offer believed to be in the region of £58.5m (€67m), but the Bundesliga champions returned with a second offer of £65.5m (€75m) including add-ons. The Liverpool accepted the offer after securing what the club considers to be full market value.

Luis Diaz was adaptive for Liverpool at his best, but the 28-year-old provided an opportunity for Liverpool to refresh the squad with a deal for Alexander Isak still possible after Hugo Ekitike’s arrival.

After signing with Bayern Munich, Diaz stated that “‘I’m very happy, it means a lot to me to be part of Bayern Munich – it’s one of the biggest clubs in the world”. ” I want to help my new team with my style of football and my personality as I aim to win every possible title.
