Man United continue to explore a deal for Brighton’s Carlos Baleba – here’s the latest, from Laurie Whitwell & David Ornstein
Carlos Baleba has recently emerged as a potential target for Man United as Ruben Amorim looks to bolster his options in the middle of the park. The Brighton midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford, but it remains to be seen whether or not a transfer will materialise.
Baleba, whose contract at the Amex Stadium expires in June 2028, featured 34 times in the Premier League last season. Playing a key role in Fabian Hurzeler’s side, he helped the Seagulls enjoy remarkable wins over United, Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool.

The Brighton star impressive performances haven’t gone under the radar, reportedly attracting interest from across Europe. So, with that being said, the Manchester Evening News has rounded up everything you need to know about Baleba and a potential transfer to Man United.
Tongues were sent wagging over the weekend when Baleba was absent from Brighton’s final pre-season friendly, a behind-closed-doors test against Wolfsburg. The 21-year-old has now missed his club’s last three pre-season games, having not played since mid-July.
However, The Argus reports that Baleba has been struggling with a knee injury picked up in training and was with the squad on Saturday to watch his team-mates in action.
But United are seeming undeterred amid claims they have seen an opening offer rejected for Baleba which included young midfielder Toby Collyer in part-exchange.
Brighton, meanwhile, are already planning for Baleba’s departure with a succession plan in place.
