Newcastle United are taking initiatives to sign Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins as a primary target in the ongoing transfer window, in the hurdle of signing Banjamin Sesko, RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Šeško is now expected to join Manchester United, due to which Newcastle have shifted focus to alternative striker options.
Ollie Watkins, who performed brilliantly in the previous Premier League season, has drawn attention of the clubs to sign him. Aston Villa value the 28-year-old highly, especially after securing UEFA Champions League qualification for the upcoming season.
Newcastle initially were im the race to sign Benjamin Šeško as their top striker target, but with Manchester United leading the race, the Magpies are now considering Watkins. Other names on their shortlist include Brentford’s Yoane Wissa and Wolves’ Jørgen Strand Larsen, both known for their physicality and pressing style—qualities aligned with Eddie Howe’s system.
