Portuguese league club FC Porto shocked their fans ahead of a preseason friendly match on Sunday by announcing the signing of dutch striker Luuk de Jong. The club introduced players and new signings for the upcoming season, then presented De Jong to the fans at the Estadio do Dragao in Porto.
The 34-year-old Dutch player emerged from the tunnel to greet the fans after being introduced by a stadium announcer.
De Jong, a former Dutch international, joined FC Porto after playing for PSV Eindhoven. He has previously played for Barcelona and Sevilla, among other clubs.
According to a report by PTI News, Porto’s signing of Luuk de Jong caught fans completely off guard.
De Jong scored 14 Eredivisie goals last term, while supplying eight assists. He converted 14.3% of his shots, underperforming his league-leading 18.0 expected goals (xG).
